SPASA is the peak industry body that represents the interests of consumers and the swimming pool industry alike. Consulting with consumers and the government bodies alike; SPASA sets a demanding standard and has via the National Swimming Pool Institute (NSPI) created an accredited training scheme. This enables the pool builders to gain the formal accreditation soon to be demanded by the Queensland Building Services legislation as a prerequisite to gaining the appropriate licenses for pool construction. SPASA members are at the forefront of this development.

SPASA provides a fully compliant pool building contract with the Queensland Building Act. This contract is in plain English and it details our mutual responsibilities; a vital first step in any happy building relationship.

SPASA members provide Watertight Contract Benefits. This is a scheme that protects you the consumer in the matter of building, installing or renovating contracts for pools and spas. Unlike home construction swimming pools are not protected by mandatory Government insurance.

SPASA members have provided evidence to a substantial period of competent trading, acceptable credit rating, and are subject to a skills and business assessment. We also are required to provide evidence of adequate public liability insurance to protect you, our customer. In the volatile construction industry SPASA members are a steady hand, with a safety net for our customers.

SPASA provides a consumer complaints process and a system of facilitative assistance that endeavours (in the event of a dispute) to arrange a mediator to assist the parties to reach a solution that is acceptable to both sides. This usually avoids costly litigation. SPASA itself has been awarded a Queensland Government Consumer Protection award demonstrating its value to both the consumer and the builder alike.
