Interview with Greg Dodd following the 2007 SPASA Qld Awards night
The company won the National Award for Fibreglass Pools back in 1988 when the CEO, Greg Dodd, put in the only previous entry to this year just to prove that a small local builder can compete with the best in the country. When asked why such a long gap between entering the awards competition, Greg’s response was simply “when I was relatively fresh in the business I decided that we had a point to prove, being that a small local builder could take out a national award. Having proven that point we then got on with the business of improving our quality and updating to meet the challenges presented by the swimming pool building industry. I really didn’t see the need to enter year after year just to prove that we could do it and saw more benefit for ourselves and our customers in putting our efforts into producing good quality swimming pools, consistently.
Having now gone on to be one of the biggest swimming pool companies in Queensland, and with the encouragement of our new General Manager, Clive, we thought it prudent to prove that a large pool builder had not lost sight of providing good quality at an achievable price.
The company has always operated in the market price range where most pools are sold, with most construction contracts being under $50,000. Their efforts were rewarded at a recent Swimming Pool and Spa Association Presentations Night with the company winning the two most prestigious awards, being the "Winner 2007 Queensland Fibreglass Pool Under $50,000" and "Winner 2007 Queensland Residential Traditional Geometric Concrete Pool Under $50,000".
Following this interview with Greg, Panorama Pools was notified that the above two pools we submitted to the national SPASA finals with great success. The fibreglass winning the Silver award on the national stage and the Concrete winning Gold in the same category. Greg’s response was quite predictable and roughly translated equates to “you little ripper!”.
